We Can’t Stop Wine-ing About These 10 Wineries in Houston

A few years ago, I found myself at a small winery just outside of Houston for a wedding, clueless about wine but excited to try something new.
I was handed a glass of red that looked a lot fancier than I felt, and after a hesitant sip, I realized—hey, this stuff isn’t so bad!
Fast forward to today, and I’m proud to say I’ve become somewhat of a wine enthusiast. Houston, it turns out, is home to some hidden gems when it comes to wineries, offering everything from family-run vineyards to modern tasting rooms.
These wineries in Houston are a great place to unwind, sip, and maybe even learn a little (or a lot) along the way. So grab your glass, and let’s take a quick tour!

Founded by a husband-and-wife duo, Pur Noire isn’t just about drinking wine—it’s about experiencing it. Their grapes come straight from California’s best vineyards, so every sip is smooth, rich, and irresistible (you’ll need to practice every bit of self-control–you’ve been warned).
Walking into the tasting room feels like stepping into a stylish, intimate space where wine is celebrated, not just served. We went there for a date night, and it was clear they’re not just here to pour drinks—they love sharing the stories behind each bottle, helping us find new favorites along the way!
Pro Tip: Join their wine club for exclusive access to new releases and events—plus, it gives you the perfect excuse to come back and ”learn more about wine”. |

SERCA Wines is a little slice of Argentina right in the heart of the Heights. Housed in a charming 1902 home, this cozy wine spot feels more like visiting a friend’s house—if that friend just happened to have a collection of wines from Mendoza.
The owners, Sergio and Carolina, are as warm and welcoming as the Malbec they pour. They love to share their knowledge, so we didn’t just sip wine—we learned about it, too
There are different wine flights offered, and every glass is smooth, rich, and downright delicious.
The space itself is just as special as the wine. A wrap-around porch, a rooftop terrace with Downtown views, and cozy rooms for wine classes–perfect for date nights, small gatherings, or just treating yourself to a midweek wine break (because “wine” not?).
Pro Tip: If you’re rolling in with eight or more people, make sure to give them a heads up. The more, the merrier, but bigger groups mean you need a seat and a wine glass for everyone! |

Houston might not scream “wine country,” but trust us—Nice Winery is something special. Tucked just off the Beltway, this cozy, family-owned winery proves that world-class wine isn’t just for California.
We started our visit with a warm welcome and a glass in hand—always a good sign. Owners Ryan Levy and Ian Eastveld, both sommeliers and chefs, know their stuff. They craft organic wines with no sulfites, sugars, or fillers—just pure, delicious flavor.
The Guided Wine Tastings feel more like a fun conversation than a class, with plenty of laughs and “aha” moments about wine and food pairings.
Despite being in the middle of Houston, this place feels like a nice little getaway. The patio, friendly faces, and perfectly curated wines made it easy to lose track of time.
Pro Tip: Don’t miss the wine dinners! The chef-curated meals paired with their award-winning wines are a standout experience. |

The wine selection? Oh, it’s good. You’ve got your Texas wines, like the 2023 Albariño and the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, but we were particularly intrigued by their “Undiscovered Genius” series. It’s a music-inspired blend that somehow makes wine tasting feel like a jam session.
What really stood out was how family-friendly the place feels. Between the cookie icing classes and wreath-making workshops, there’s always something going on.
Plus, if you’re planning a party (or just need an excuse to drink wine), their winemaker is super helpful with picking out the right bottles to impress your guests.
Pro Tip: If you’re feeling adventurous, order this surprising combo of Mourvèdre wine, Coca-Cola, and lemon. It sounds wild, but trust us, it works! |

We recommend starting with a guided tour. You’ll get the inside scoop on how it all happens, from the vines to the barrel, and you might even leave feeling like a wine expert (or at least sounding like one at your next dinner party).
If you’re thinking of making a big celebration out of it, this gem is a top venue for weddings, private parties, or any reason to put on a nice outfit. Their picturesque vineyard views will make your Instagram followers jealous!
And for those looking for a weekend getaway, staying in one of their cozy vineyard cabins is basically a dream come true.

With over four acres of beautiful vineyards, it’s the perfect spot for sipping award-winning wines (and pretending we know a thing or two). There’s an indoor space, but we recommend enjoying your drink outside with the views.
The wine is great, but this spot also throws some of the best events around! If you’re lucky, you might catch a tribute band playing hits from Queen or the Eagles.
They also host Sangria Saturdays and you can bet we’ll be there, enjoying some music, a glass (or three) of wine, and possibly embarrassing ourselves with our dance moves.

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to spend a relaxing and fun wine night Houston, we’ve got just the place for you—Gadela Winery. We stumbled upon this hidden gem, and it’s anything but your typical commercial spot.
Set in a charming, two-story house, the place has such a cozy, intimate vibe that makes you feel like you’re visiting friends. Franco and Brenda, the owners, made everything feel personal and warm.
The wine selection is top-notch. We loved the Brisa Sauvignon Blanc—refreshing and light, but if you’re into reds, the Kerubim blend is bold and flavorful. Each wine has its own unique personality that keeps us coming back for more.
And those empanadas? We couldn’t get enough! The mix of Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Argentine flavors really hit the spot, but the Puerto Rican ones were definitely favorites.
Pro Tip: Ask about the wine’s backstory! Franco and Brenda are passionate about the wines they make, so don’t hesitate to ask them about the flavors, grapes, or origins of their vines. It’s always more fun when you know the story behind the sip! |

Contact Details: +1 832-779-5330
If you’re looking for a wine experience that’s as meaningful as it is delicious, Kizz My Legacy Winery in Houston is the place to be.
This boutique winery is not just about pouring you a glass of wine — it’s about making a difference. Every bottle you sip helps support scholarships for minority students who want to study abroad. So, yeah, you can feel good while enjoying your wine!
We got to try their three main wines — and let’s just say, we’re hooked. The red is packed with mixed berry goodness, the white has this light pear flavor and the blush is perfect for a sunny afternoon.
(If you’re new to wine, don’t worry — these wines are easy to drink but still pack a punch of flavor.)
We recommend attending one of their wine-tasting events. It’s not just sipping — they throw in fun stuff like paint-and-sip nights with live music (yes, there was a violinist, and we were living our best lives). It’s the kind of experience where you’ll leave with a smile, and maybe even a new favorite wine.
Pro Tip: For food pairings, the red wine is great with meats and chocolate, while the white is a match made in heaven for cheeses and fruits. The blush is perfect for grilled fish or vegan dishes. Trust us, your tastebuds will thank you. |

Located in one of Houston’s most charming neighborhoods, Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen is not just another winery—it’s a full experience for wine lovers and food enthusiasts alike.
We started our adventure by heading straight to the wine-tasting room (no judgment). The wines were so good we didn’t even feel guilty about skipping the gym that day. If you’re into trying a variety, they have a wine-on-tap system, which is pretty fancy, but also super fun.
We paired our wine with some tasty bites, and—let’s just say—if you’re not trying the Baked Goat Cheese, what are you even doing with your life?
We could’ve easily stayed all day thanks to the food. We dug into the Brown Butter Chardonnay Fish, and it was so good we almost licked the plate. The Tres Leches Bread Pudding for dessert? Chef’s kiss.
Pro Tip: Check out their Happy Hour! It’s Tuesday to Friday from 4-6 PM, so set an alarm and get there before your inner procrastinator takes over. |

Contact Details: +1 832-452-0563; [email protected]
Operating Hours: Friday to Saturday – 4 PM to 8 PM
If you’re looking for a fun and unique wine experience in Houston, The SIPstahood is the place to go! Located in the 3rd Ward, this Black female-owned winery mixes great wine with giving back to the community.
We tried a few wines, and they did not disappoint. The Sipsta Green Apple was our favorite–sweet and tart, just like the fruit, but with a grown-up twist. The Shiraz was bold and full of flavor, perfect for anyone who likes a rich wine. And don’t miss the Sparkling Brut for a little bubbly fun!
The best part? The experience here is personal. Jeannae, the founder, and her team make sure you feel welcome and explain everything you’re drinking. They even share how each wine is made and what flavors you should look for. It’s like a fun wine class, but way more relaxed.
Pro Tip: Jennae goes above and beyond to make your wine tasting personal and enjoyable. Reach out to her before your visit to share your flavor preferences, and she’ll customize your tasting experience just for you. |
